The History of
Allendale Civic Theatre

Although the Allendale Civic Theatre is a new organization, its history actually began about ten years ago when, during the 1996-1997 school year, Lonnie Cody and Julie MacFarland established the Allendale Middle School Drama Club, providing Middle School students with an opportunity to showcase their talents on stage. A couple of years later, other people joined their effortswhich resulted in spring performances every year through 2004.

When Allendale residents approved the building of an auditorium, these women's dream of developing a local civic theatre suddenly became a possibility.

Believing that the auditorium could serve all local residents as well as public school students, they met with school officials, who readily granted permission for the use of the building.

After countless hours of meetings, research, and brainstorming, a mission statement and bylaws were developed, the public was invited to participate, and the March 2006 dates were set for our first production, Enchanted Sleeping Beauty. Allendale Civic Theatre was a reality!
